Latest News The Kids Are All Wight To Infinity And Beyond U9's clean sweep of London Irish performance prizes Dogs BRFC Shop Popular Goodbye and Good Luck Under 13s Team As Under 12s JUNIOR FIXTURE LIST Images Wasps Photo Home Minis Trojan Tournament 28th October 2007 Written by Ryan Eagle    Friday, 09 November 2007 Trojans Tournament 28th October 2007 Despite the weather being absolutely awful (monsoon season!), Basingstoke Rugby Club had a great day at the latest Mini’s Festival. The Under 7’s played in their first competitive tournament and whilst results didn’t go their way the effort and commitment, combined with the skills that they showed will surely lead to them winning a tournament in the near future. A very creditable first outing for the youngest team at the club. The Under 8’s were defending the Trophy they won last year and after easing through the group stages were unlucky to go out in the Cup Semi-Finals by 2 tries to 1. The Under 8’s will be a force to be reckoned with again this season. The Under 9’s were in sparkling form and following on from their success at the Maidenhead Tournament they ran out winners in the main cup competition. The final itself against Havant was an extremely tense affair with great rugby being played by both sides. With a minute left and the sides deadlocked at 1 - 1 Basingstoke forced themselves over the line to claim the winning try. The Under 10’s started off like a steam train scoring tries for fun, only losing to a very well drilled Banbury side in the group. In the Cup Semi-Final they met Havant and despite a great effort went down by 2 tries to 1. The Under 11’s, just like last year, played their way into the Cup Semi-Final against the hosts, Trojans. Unfortunately just like last year they were to fall short of the final. Despite the majority of the possession Basingstoke were unable to get over the Try Line and the hosts ran out winners by 1 try to nil.  The Under 12’s, in their final year of Mini’s Rugby, finally got the Trophy that their Rugby deserves.
